In the 10th minute the ball was on its way in behind Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 15 minutes into the game, one of Latocayteva F.C.:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Latocayteva F.C.:s Apolo Rius showed great skill when he stopped Joel Gaona:s penalty. Alberto Tafalla took the ball and in the 22 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Apolo Rius. Apolo Rius dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. In the 26th minute, Nóni Angel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Apolo Rius took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alberto Tafalla, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Misael Darroja's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dante Lacasa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 35th minute of play. Leonardo Leoz kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Gaona in the 42nd minute of play forced Latocayteva F.C.'s goalkeeper Apolo Rius to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 45th minute, Lautaro Mancebo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Apolo Rius was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Joel Gaona was the one to do the kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Koulis Kostakoglou during the 52nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Joel Gaona shot from long distance in the 53rd minute, but Apolo Rius was prepared and stopped the ball at the left post. In the 58th minute Misael Darroja shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Apolo Rius was a little too slow when Alberto Tafalla got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 60th minute. The score was now 0-3. In the 68th minute Mexico were awarded a corner. Joel Gaona went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led to Mexico's Luca Zorita getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. In the 71st match minute, Mexico was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lorenzo Cazalla to maneuver through the defense. After 72 played minutes, Latocayteva F.C.'s Federico Reyes shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Dante Lacasa came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Latocayteva F.C. reached it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Misael Darroja in the 79th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Joel Gaona got free with Apolo Rius in the 82nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Apolo Rius showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. With a little luck, Latocayteva F.C.'s Apolo Rius got control of the ball when Alberto Tafalla tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Mexico booed when Latocayteva F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Saul Villanueva didn't get a good kick on the ball. Apolo Rius showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. The Latocayteva F.C. fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Mexico were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
