The corner led Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Heitor Ferreira to fire away a dangerous shot which Marco Day despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Mickaël Maris played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Monty Rogers in the 44th minute of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Laércio Penha made a kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's goalkeeper Mickaël Maris had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Monty Rogers. A collision led to Nova Iguaçu MZFC getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Laércio Penha hit a great ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Cassius Byrne kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Mickaël Maris. That made the score 0-1 in the 60 minute of play. Mickaël Maris made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zach Harrison in the 65th minute of play. Mickaël Maris showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zach Harrison, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. Monty Rogers's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mickaël Maris read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 67th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Monty Rogers kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Mickaël Maris. That made the score 0-2 in the 73 minute of play. Mickaël Maris made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sam Campbell in the 76th minute. USA's Khalid Parry got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 94th minute Sam Campbell shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mickaël Maris saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mickaël Maris showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sam Campbell in the 94th minute of the match. Khalid Parry fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mickaël Maris having to interfere.
