He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Pauli Palander. After 11 played minutes, Vlashers's Gigel Ghișerel shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Benito Sanz came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Vlashers reached it. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ernest Mareș in the 12th minute of play. Alexander Carballo was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 12 minutes into the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 12th minute of the game. One of Costa Rica:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Vlashers:s goal. In the 14th minute there was a penalty for Vlashers. Ernest Mareș stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Benito Sanz. 1-1. Ernest Mareș fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Sanz having to interfere. When Vlashers's Marius Levința in the 21st minute got a chance for a shot 21st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Marius Levința scored 1-2 in the 22nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Benito Sanz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Eliseo Noboa hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. The supporters of Vlashers booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Juan Rubio didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Alan Moruga hit a great ball. When Alan Moruga fell near the penalty area in the 34th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Costa Rica's protests and gave Alan Moruga a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Alan Moruga got a free kick in the 34th minute. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ernest Mareș, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Nechifor Cosor took the ball and in the 47 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. After the first half Vlashers were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Eliseo Noboa stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Aaron Alcocer hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. In the 54th minute, Vlashers's Marius Levința ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-4. 58 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Marius Levința. Lautaro Puig blasted a shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Pauli Palander having to make a save. Ernest Mareș received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Vlashers made a substitution. Trayko Mendov replaced Nechifor Cosor. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Marius Levința in the 69th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Benito Sanz saved Costa Rica from getting behind. Trayko Mendov sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 76th minute, Ernest Mareș made a precise shot to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-5. The supporters of Costa Rica booed when Vlashers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Demetrio Domenghini didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Trayko Mendov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Aaron Alcocer hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. In the 92nd minute, Marius Levința ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Benito Sanz was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-6. After 95 played minutes Vlashers got a freekick which was hit by Bonifacio Bembe.
