Caxias do Sul's goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Tafalla came free, but Esen Sanal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lorenzo Cazalla kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Esen Sanal proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 16th minute of the match, managed to save S.E.R. Caxias do Sul from getting a goal against them. Caxias do Sul got a freekick which was hit by Gláuber Tande. Lautaro Mancebo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 45th minute of the match, but Esen Sanal made a huge save. Joel Gaona fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Esen Sanal having to interfere. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Joel Gaona was the one to do the kick off. In the 67th minute Joel Gaona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Esen Sanal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 67 minutes into the match, Joel Gaona notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Esen Sanal. Esen Sanal was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, Lautaro Mancebo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mexico's supporters rose to their feet, but Lautaro Mancebo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Esen Sanal breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Alberto Tafalla received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Esen Sanal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Daniel Owsiak kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. 79 minutes into the match, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's goal looked a bit too open when Joel Gaona came free, but Esen Sanal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Joel Gaona had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 94 minutes into the game, Mexico's Joel Gaona nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Esen Sanal made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-2. There was no doubt that Mexico were the better team. Mexico's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
