Luz Tejedor scored 2-0 in the 29th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Matthew Benjamin, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 34 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Krzysztof Kaleta came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Milagros Fraga might have been able to make a better finish in the 54th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Matthew Benjamin. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out.
