Alexandre Santana could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 12th minute of the match, but Dante Lacasa made a huge save. Mexico's Joel Gaona was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Edwin van der Sar in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 17 minutes into the match, Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alexandre Santana. Edwin van der Sar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 19th minute of the match. Edwin van der Sar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lautaro Mancebo in the 22nd minute of play. Dante Lacasa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jerónimo Furtado in the 24th minute. Horia Taşcu kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. Edwin van der Sar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lautaro Mancebo in the 30th minute of the match. In the 35th match minute, União Sport Clube Paredes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gaspar Ibon to maneuver through the defense. Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jerónimo Furtado in the 37th minute of play. Jerónimo Furtado could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 41st minute of the match, but Dante Lacasa made a huge save. When Joel Gaona fell near the penalty area in the 46th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mexico's protests and gave Joel Gaona a yellow card for diving instead. In the 46th minute, Joel Gaona hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jerónimo Furtado made a kick off. 52 minutes into the game, Alexandre Santana cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Dante Lacasa was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dabi Saens in the 57th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luca Zorita in the 58th minute of play forced União Sport Clube Paredes's goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 62nd minute Jerónimo Furtado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Edwin van der Sar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joel Gaona, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. 63 minutes into the match, Joel Gaona had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Edwin van der Sar. União Sport Clube Paredes's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Joel Gaona was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-3. After 84 minutes of play, Mexico's Alberto Tafalla made it 3-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Edwin van der Sar was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 94th minute Dabi Saens shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Mexico walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
