In the 21st minute of the match, Jerónimo Furtado tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Dante Lacasa saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jerónimo Furtado in the 21st minute of play. If Lautaro Mancebo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 24th minute Facundo Cadaval shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edwin van der Sar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jakub Szczepanowski sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lautaro Mancebo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Edwin van der Sar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 40th minute of play forced União Sport Clube Paredes's goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dabi Saens, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lautaro Mancebo in the 43rd minute of play forced União Sport Clube Paredes's goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alexandre Santana got free with Dante Lacasa in the 45th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jerónimo Furtado made a kick off. União Sport Clube Paredes's Edwin van der Sar proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 50th minute of the match, managed to save União Sport Clube Paredes from getting a goal against them. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alexandre Santana, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alexandre Santana in the 53rd minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dabi Saens in the 56th minute of the match. With a little luck, União Sport Clube Paredes's Edwin van der Sar got control of the ball when Facundo Cadaval tried to sneak it across the goal line. 62 minutes into the match, União Sport Clube Paredes's goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Tafalla came free, but Edwin van der Sar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 66th minute, Luca Rouco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Alberto Tafalla recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 73rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 80 minutes, Lautaro Mancebo made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. União Sport Clube Paredes's Edwin van der Sar tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Dabi Saens took the ball and in the 87 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dante Lacasa. Dante Lacasa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. The supporters of Mexico booed when União Sport Clube Paredes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alexandre Santana didn't get a good kick on the ball. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
