With a couple of smart ball manuevers Atilano Quinten in the 7th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Thiago Pliego saved Chile from getting behind. The Los Delfines fans' excitement grew in the 7th match minute when Los Delfines's Atilano Quinten looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Chile's Pedro Indiano managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Hilario Asteri in the 10 minute of the game. Los Delfines's Matías Patrone proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 11th minute of the match, managed to save Los Delfines from getting a goal against them. Thiago Pliego took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Atilano Quinten, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Los Delfines's Matías Patrone got control of the ball when Orlando Casaus tried to sneak it across the goal line. Honorio Eder hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. Matías Patrone was out of position in the 32 minute of play, and Mariano Lacasa capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Mariano Lacasa really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. Thiago Pliego made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Atilano Quinten in the 41st minute of play. A collision led to Los Delfines getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Hilario Asteri hit a great ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Atilano Quinten was the one to do the kick off. Los Delfines's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Tomáš Kožený in the 53rd minute. After taking down the ball on Los Delfines's corner Tomáš Kožený fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Thiago Pliego quite easily take care of the ball. In the 54th minute the ball was on its way in behind Los Delfines's goalkeeper Matías Patrone, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 55th minute of the match Chile got a corner. Los Delfines's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Mariano Lacasa ran over to the corner to take the kick. Xavier Figueroa was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Los Delfines's Saverio Regis was substituted for Atilano Quinten. Matías Patrone showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Orlando Casaus, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. If Mariano Lacasa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Thiago Pliego prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 78 minutes into the game, Los Delfines's Oliver Bierhoff nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Thiago Pliego made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. If Oliver Bierhoff had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 84th minute the ball was on its way in behind Chile's goalkeeper Thiago Pliego, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 86 minutes into the game, Oliver Bierhoff cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-3. Thiago Pliego was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Mariano Lacasa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Matías Patrone read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 89th minute of play. If Oliver Bierhoff had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Matías Patrone made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mariano Lacasa in the 92nd minute of play. After 93rd play minutes Mariano Lacasa shot 2-3, a short shot which went by Matías Patrone and just under the crossbar into goal. The Chile supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Los Delfines's performance. The match ended with a win for Los Delfines.
