Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Eliseo Noboa kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. Emil Andersson's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 9thth minute, Benito Sanz skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Lautaro Puig took the ball and in the 12 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Per-Oskar Wiberg. Per-Oskar Wiberg dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. In the 18th minute, Harry Nordlander reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Benito Sanz. The goal made the score 1-1. Emil Andersson's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 22ndth minute, Benito Sanz skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. When Emil Andersson came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the Wrexham A.F.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Emil Andersson couldn't finish the play. 27 minutes into the game, Emil Andersson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Wrexham A.F.C.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Costa Rica the free kick. In the 27th match minute, Wrexham A.F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Emil Andersson to maneuver through the defense. Benito Sanz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Emil Andersson in the 31st minute. Eliseo Noboa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 36th minute, Axel Tasis made a precise shot to the right of Per-Oskar Wiberg. Wrexham A.F.C.'s defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. In the 39th minute Harry Nordlander shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 41 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Emil Andersson came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Harry Nordlander recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Ivar Aleberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emil Andersson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Juan Rubio hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. The Wrexham A.F.C. players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Costa Rica were winning 1-2.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Emil Andersson made a kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Lautaro Puig managed to get in a good position for a shot. Costa Rica's supporters rose to their feet, but Lautaro Puig was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Per-Oskar Wiberg breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Edvin Rolandsson charged in rather forcefully in the 58th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Edvin Rolandsson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 58th match minute, Wrexham A.F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edvin Rolandsson to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ivar Aleberg in the 60th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Wrexham A.F.C.'s Bo Vinström got a free kick in the 66th minute. Per-Oskar Wiberg made a fantastic save in the 67th minute, when Lautaro Puig sent off a good shot on target. After 69 minutes, Sture Brolin mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Wrexham A.F.C. and the Costa Rica players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 69th match minute, Wrexham A.F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sture Brolin to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Lautaro Puig hit a great ball. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ivar Aleberg in the 79th minute of play. Aaron Alcocer hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Emil Andersson in the 92nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Benito Sanz saved Costa Rica from getting behind. In the 95th minute Emil Andersson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Chants of Costa Rica echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Wrexham A.F.C. had held the ball for most of the match.
