An unexpectedly hard shot by Felix Montenegro in the 14th minute of play forced Tajfun's goalkeeper Piotr Wyrzykowski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Tadeusz Skirzynski fell near the penalty area in the 14th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Tajfun's protests and gave Tadeusz Skirzynski a yellow card for diving instead. Piotr Wyrzykowski took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Felix Montenegro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 28 minutes into the match, Tajfun's Witold Wnukowski sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Arkadiusz Witkowski hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. Arkadiusz Witkowski charged in rather forcefully in the 37th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Arkadiusz Witkowski the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Arkadiusz Witkowski kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Witold Wnukowski's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 42ndth minute, Julio Vera skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. With his leg Julio Vera managed to avoid a goal in the 42ndth minute, when Tajfun's Witold Wnukowski fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 44th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. In the 48th minute Luis Andino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Piotr Wyrzykowski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After having played for 54 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Piotr Wyrzykowski came out of the goal in the 58th minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Felix Montenegro. But to his dismay, Felix Montenegro quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Piotr Wyrzykowski in the 70th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Piotr Wyrzykowski made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Sancho in the 72nd minute. The referee felt a red card was in order, 76 minutes into the game, when Konrad Filanowski put in a rough tackle. In a very dangerous position, a player in Tajfun fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 76th minute. Penalty! Daniel Zorita shot the penalty kick right outside the post. 86 minutes into the match, Tajfun's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Piotr Wyrzykowski reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Witold Wnukowski in the 96th minute of the match. Piotr Wyrzykowski came out of the goal in the 98th minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Felix Montenegro. But to his dismay, Felix Montenegro quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2.
