Rigoberto Mina hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. Jonathan Venegas hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 32nd minute of the match, managed to save Venezuela from getting a goal against them. Jonathan Ferrant made an important save on a dangerous shot by Laffitte Sanes in the 34th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Laffitte Sanes kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Jonathan Ferrant. That made the score 1-0 in the 34 minute of play. The audience cheered when Laffitte Sanes's long shot passed Jonathan Ferrant's right side. It was 2-0, 38 minutes into the match. Tomas Illescas struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Juan Cazorla didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Venezuela. If Patricio Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Patricio Costa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Juan Cazorla tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tomas Illescas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 55 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Jose Correa. In the 57th minute, Tomas Illescas reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Juan Cazorla. The goal made the score 2-1. In the 59th minute Patricio Costa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Juan Cazorla saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tomas Illescas got free with Juan Cazorla in the 63rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Jonathan Venegas got a free kick in the 65th minute. In the 66th minute of the match Fidel Gomez sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jonathan Ferrant skillfully saved the ball. After 68 minutes, Laffitte Sanes made it 3-1 with a short kick to the right side. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. 70 minutes into the match, AC Guadalajara's Laffitte Sanes sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jonathan Ferrant narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Jonathan Ferrant stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Laffitte Sanes's shot from short distance in the 72nd minute. If Laffitte Sanes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 74th minute, Fidel Gomez made a precise shot to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-1. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Laffitte Sanes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. AC Guadalajara's Juan Cazorla played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Illescas in the 83rd minute of play. 90 minutes into the game, Normando Palencia cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-1. Jonathan Ferrant was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. AC Guadalajara's Jesús Abellan was substituted for Anacleto Pais. Fidel Gomez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
