The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Efrain Moruga's late challenge caught a C.S.D Punta Ballena's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Efrain Moruga helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Efrain Moruga got a free kick in the 3rd minute. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Anton Guilizasti, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. Axel Tasis struck a weak shot in the 7th minute. Larra Briz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Costa Rica. Larra Briz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Axel Tasis in the 10th minute of the match. Diegotxe Carvajal kicked well hit freekick during the 10th minute of the match. Axel Tasis took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 11th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Larra Briz. C.S.D Punta Ballena's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. During the 13th minute of the match Efrain Moruga completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Efrain Moruga a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. The supporters of C.S.D Punta Ballena booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Efrain Moruga didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hugo Ferrant got a throw-in 16 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Alan Moruga. 18 minutes into the match, Lautaro Puig dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Larra Briz, 1-0. C.S.D Punta Ballena's Baudelio Valls managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Axel Tasis in the 23 minute of the game. The throw-in from Eliseo Noboa in the 26th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by C.S.D Punta Ballena's Josu Garoña. Axel Tasis hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Elivareo Monta, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. After having played for 31 minutes, Eliseo Noboa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Costa Rica's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eliseo Noboa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. C.S.D Punta Ballena's Leo Busvidad managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Axel Tasis in the 34 minute of the game. Abel Carballo made in the 39th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by C.S.D Punta Ballena's Leo Busvidad. A sloppy throw-in by Axel Tasis in the 43rd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by C.S.D Punta Ballena's Josu Garoña. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Eliseo Noboa was the one to do the kick off. After 61 minutes of play, C.S.D Punta Ballena's Anton Guilizasti made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Benito Sanz was left in no man's land by his defense there! The throw-in from Juan Rubio in the 66th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by C.S.D Punta Ballena's Cesario Olivos. A sloppy throw-in by Abel Carballo in the 67th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by C.S.D Punta Ballena's Baudelio Valls. Hugo Ferrant made in the 69th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Lautaro Puig. C.S.D Punta Ballena's Cesario Olivos quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Hugo Ferrant, made in the 74th minute of the game. Juan Rubio got a throw-in 76 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Lautaro Puig. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Hugo Ferrant got a free kick in the 90th minute.
