Romeu Marques showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 5th minute of the match. 6 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Felix Montenegro sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Romeu Marques narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Planet Caravan's Romeu Marques played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luis Andino in the 10th minute of play. Romeu Marques showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 20th minute. Romeu Marques didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. After a defensive mix-up in Planet Caravan's zone, Daniel Zorita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Romeu Marques came out of the goal and Daniel Zorita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bebeto Queirós, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. When Bebeto Queirós fell near the penalty area in the 25th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Planet Caravan's protests and gave Bebeto Queirós a yellow card for diving instead. Bebeto Queirós kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Romeu Marques having to interfere. With his leg Julio Vera managed to avoid a goal in the 32ndth minute, when Planet Caravan's Bebeto Queirós fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After a rather tough play, Planet Caravan's João Francisco Furtado got a free kick in the 34th minute. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bebeto Queirós was shown his second yellow card after 45 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Planet Caravan was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bebeto Queirós didn't get a good kick on the ball.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. Luis Andino recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 51st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Romeu Marques made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 57th minute. Romeu Marques was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Daniel Zorita showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-1 in the 57 minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dedê Vinhas during the 60th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 61st minute of the match, Cristian Sancho got a very nice opportunity to score, but Romeu Marques was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. During the 64th minute of the match Dedê Vinhas completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Dedê Vinhas a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 64th minute, Dedê Vinhas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 68 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Romeu Marques narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 71st minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. In the 72nd minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. Planet Caravan's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Romeu Marques in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Romeu Marques made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 77th minute. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Romeu Marques came out and tried to block the shot, but Daniel Zorita slotted it home off the left post making it 0-3 in the 82nd minute. 0-4 became the score in the 88th minute when Daniel Zorita elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Cristian Sancho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Anísio Saraiva hit a great freekick 96 minutes into the match. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
