With a little luck, Panama's Marcos Cotilla got control of the ball when Evandro Bastos tried to sneak it across the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Belmiro Nunes got free with Marcos Cotilla in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 18th match minute, Compostela FSCMZ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by César Correia to maneuver through the defense. After 20 played minutes Compostela FSCMZ got a freekick which was hit by Cristian Urbano. In the 25th match minute, Compostela FSCMZ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Evandro Bastos to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Isidoro Sarmiento in the 26th minute of play forced Compostela FSCMZ's goalkeeper Luiz Fernando Baiano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tomas Berganza took the ball and in the 29 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Luiz Fernando Baiano. Luiz Fernando Baiano dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Luiz Fernando Baiano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Isidoro Sarmiento, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tomas Berganza scored 0-2 in the 37th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Luiz Fernando Baiano, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Luiz Fernando Baiano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Isidoro Sarmiento in the 41st minute of play. Romário Borges hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Compostela FSCMZ's Belmiro Nunes got a free kick in the 47th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Oswaldo Cabral was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute Isidoro Sarmiento shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luiz Fernando Baiano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 54 minutes, Miguel Miralles managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Panama's supporters crossed their fingers, but Miguel Miralles was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Marcos Cotilla took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Belmiro Nunes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 60 minutes into the game, Tomas Berganza recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Luiz Fernando Baiano. Tomas Berganza showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-3. In the 64th minute Abraham Alguacil shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luiz Fernando Baiano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 67 minutes into the match, Tomas Berganza dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Luiz Fernando Baiano, 0-4. Isidoro Sarmiento struck a weak shot in the 69th minute. Luiz Fernando Baiano didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Panama. Isidoro Sarmiento might have been able to make a better finish in the 71st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Luiz Fernando Baiano. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Isidoro Sarmiento ran back to his position shaking his head. Luiz Fernando Baiano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Isidoro Sarmiento in the 71st minute of play. After 73 played minutes Panama got a freekick which was hit by Alex Cambeiro. Oswaldo Cabral sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 76 minutes into the match, Isidoro Sarmiento dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Luiz Fernando Baiano, 0-5. Tomas Berganza recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Abraham Alguacil fell near the penalty area in the 83rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Panama's protests and gave Abraham Alguacil a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Compostela FSCMZ booed when Panama was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Abraham Alguacil didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 90 played minutes Compostela FSCMZ got a freekick which was hit by César Correia. 93 minutes into the match, Miguel Miralles notched a goal, 0-6, to the right of Compostela FSCMZ's Luiz Fernando Baiano. Luiz Fernando Baiano was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When the match was over Panama could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Compostela FSCMZ throughout the match.
