Filip Brolin hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. 7 minutes into the match, Tomas Illescas notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Skövde AIK's Viktor Pettersson. Viktor Pettersson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 9th minute Kurt Hamrin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jonathan Ferrant acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 19th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Kevin Keegan. 21 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Kurt Hamrin came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Venezuela's Tomas Illescas got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kurt Hamrin in the 28th minute of the match. 29 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Chen Ao Fan. In the 39th minute, Alex Chicote hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kevin Keegan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

Krister Uggstedt hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. Skövde AIK's Viktor Pettersson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Illescas in the 57th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tomas Illescas got free with Viktor Pettersson in the 61st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jerry Williams fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. Skövde AIK's Hans Petersson pulled a muscle in his leg after 67 minutes and couldn't finish the game. After 67 minutes, Patricio Costa mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Venezuela and the Skövde AIK players grew even worse after the yellow card. Skövde AIK made a substitution. Vidar Fransson replaced Hans Petersson. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Patricio Costa hit a great ball. Kevin Keegan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Jonathan Ferrant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Chen Ao Fan came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the Skövde AIK fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Chen Ao Fan couldn't finish the play. In the 74th minute, Kevin Keegan made a precise shot to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. After 77 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Camilo Gaos. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kevin Keegan in the 78th minute of play. In the 81st match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joshua Secada to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Skövde AIK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kurt Hamrin didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 85th minute Kurt Hamrin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 86th minute, Jose Correa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After recieving a nice pass, Skövde AIK's Kevin Keegan tried to score from far away in the 87th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Kurt Hamrin took the ball and in the 94 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1.
