Radomil Mietus in the 14thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Marco Day, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Marco Day showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sebastian Verón in the 16th minute of the match. The supporters of USA booed when Club Sportivo Quilmes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Radomil Mietus didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Club Sportivo Quilmes's Ignacio Telo got a free kick in the 19th minute. In the 20th minute Monty Rogers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pastor Firman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 21st minute of the match USA got a corner. Club Sportivo Quilmes's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Cassius Byrne ran over to the corner to take the kick. Sebastian Verón fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marco Day having to interfere. In the 28th minute USA were awarded a corner. Cassius Byrne went to the cornerflag to take it. A well-hit corner resulted in Jacob May heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Marco Day made a fantastic save in the 32nd minute, when Edmílson Martins sent off a good shot on target. With an all-out effort, Club Sportivo Quilmes's Marco Day threw himself towards the right post 35 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Sebastian Verón, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The supporters of Club Sportivo Quilmes booed when USA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Diego Bradley didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marco Day took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Waldemar Przybylo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. USA's Cassius Byrne got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Pastor Firman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cassius Byrne, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. In the 47th minute, Cassius Byrne ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Pastor Firman was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Radomil Mietus stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. USA were awarded a corner in the 53th minute after Club Sportivo Quilmes's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Cassius Byrne took the corner. Zach Harrison was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. In the 54th minute of the match, Zach Harrison tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Pastor Firman saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. USA were awarded a corner in the 55th minute after Club Sportivo Quilmes's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Cassius Byrne took the corner. In the 60th minute of the match, Cassius Byrne tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Pastor Firman saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After 61 minutes Club Sportivo Quilmes's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Cassius Byrne who took care of the corner kick. A collision led to Club Sportivo Quilmes getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Ludomir Witkowski hit a great ball. Radomil Mietus scored 1-2 in the 65th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Marco Day, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Monty Rogers in the 70th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Pastor Firman saved Club Sportivo Quilmes from getting behind. In the 70thth minute of the game Monty Rogers who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Club Sportivo Quilmes's Pastor Firman was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Club Sportivo Quilmes's Emanuel Ladio was substituted for Silverio Chuan. A collision led to Club Sportivo Quilmes getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Ludomir Witkowski hit a great ball. After 86 played minutes Club Sportivo Quilmes got a freekick which was hit by Ludomir Witkowski. In the 87th minute, Jenson Smith got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 91st match minute, Club Sportivo Quilmes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Samuel Medero to maneuver through the defense. Sam Campbell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When USA's Khalid Parry, in the 94th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for USA. Club Sportivo Quilmes succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though USA had controlled the match.
