Paredes Goiano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joel Gaona in the 11th minute of the match. 14 minutes into the match, Joel Gaona notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Manchester City's Paredes Goiano. Paredes Goiano was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Joel Gaona blasted a shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Paredes Goiano having to make a save. Dante Lacasa made a fantastic save in the 22nd minute, when Richard Edström sent off a good shot on target. Paredes Goiano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joel Gaona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Joel Gaona sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Paredes Goiano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lautaro Mancebo in the 35th minute of play. Joel Gaona was slow to take the kick. During this time Mexico's players had a chance to rest. Mexico's Facundo Cadaval got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

In the 53rd minute, Mexico's Lautaro Mancebo ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Paredes Goiano. Paredes Goiano yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-3. Paredes Goiano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lautaro Mancebo in the 58th minute of the match. 59 minutes into the game, Manchester City's Ulf Tingelholm nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Dante Lacasa made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-3. Paredes Goiano made a fantastic save in the 67th minute, when Alberto Tafalla sent off a good shot on target. Paredes Goiano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Gaona in the 69th minute of play. The supporters of Mexico booed when Manchester City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alf Möllgren didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lautaro Mancebo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Paredes Goiano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With an all-out effort, Mexico's Paredes Goiano threw himself towards the right post 76 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Joel Gaona, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After some careless play in the Mexico defense, Ulf Tingelholm kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dante Lacasa. The Mexico fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dante Lacasa should have stopped the shot. 81 minutes into the game, Casper Biörk was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Manchester City's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mexico the free kick. Manchester City's Paredes Goiano proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 83rd minute of the match, managed to save Manchester City from getting a goal against them. Paredes Goiano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joel Gaona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
