Jonathan Ferrant was a little too slow when LeBron Naldo got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 3rd minute. The score was now 1-0. Tomas Illescas struck a weak shot in the 6th minute. Júlio César didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Venezuela. Patricio Costa might have been able to make a better finish in the 11th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Júlio César. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Patricio Costa ran back to his position shaking his head. After 15 played minutes AD Oliveirense got a freekick which was hit by Inko Bullido. Júlio César showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomas Illescas in the 16th minute of the match. In the 23rd minute Patricio Costa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Júlio César saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dave Nash recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 25th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jonathan Ferrant made a fantastic save in the 27th minute, when Dave Nash sent off a good shot on target. Dave Nash fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. Dave Nash recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 42nd minute, Dave Nash fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. André Fraga kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. Camilo Gaos charged in rather forcefully in the 46th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Camilo Gaos the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 45 minutes into the game, one of Venezuela:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. After some careless play in the Venezuela defense, Fabrício Baía kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. The Venezuela fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jonathan Ferrant should have stopped the shot. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 56th minute, Camilo Gaos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 66th minute LeBron Naldo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Patricio Costa hit a great ball. AD Oliveirense made a substitution. Celedonio Berenguer replaced Dave Nash. AD Oliveirense's players were relieved. 80 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Fabrício Baía came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 83 minutes into the match, Tomas Illescas dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Júlio César, 3-1. In the 86th minute, Marco Espírito Santo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jonathan Ferrant was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-1. The supporters of Venezuela booed when AD Oliveirense was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marco Fonseca didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jonathan Venegas kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. In the 96th minute Celedonio Berenguer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Patricio Costa struck a weak shot in the 97th minute. Júlio César didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Venezuela. AD Oliveirense's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
