Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 24th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. Lilian Thuram hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. Dida Mazurkiewicz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Daniel Zorita's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ciprian Toma received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 36th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Primitivo Andino to maneuver through the defense. Primitivo Andino made in the 38th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Felix Montenegro however managed to control. 42 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Ciprian Toma came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ciprian Toma, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 『挑战者』山羊足球俱乐部's 汪锋银 was substituted for 曾川正. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. In the 53rd minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dida Mazurkiewicz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ciprian Toma, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ciprian Toma might have been able to make a better finish in the 64th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Julio Vera. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ciprian Toma ran back to his position shaking his head. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ciprian Toma in the 70th minute of play. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dida Mazurkiewicz having to interfere. If Ciprian Toma had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead.
