Just Fontaine started the match with the kick off. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gustaaf Van Dyck in the 6th minute. Shota Stopa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 8th minute of the match. 13 minutes into the match, Pezerik's goal looked a bit too open when Luis Andino came free, but Shota Stopa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Shota Stopa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 17th minute of play. After having played for 18 minutes, Gustaaf Van Dyck managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pezerik's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gustaaf Van Dyck was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Luis Andino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Shota Stopa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Shota Stopa having to interfere. Shota Stopa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felix Montenegro, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. 35 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Just Fontaine came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 37th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Shota Stopa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 38th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 42nd minute, when Gustaaf Van Dyck sent off a good shot on target. Ivan Roeckeloes kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

In the 56th minute, Ivan Roeckeloes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gustaaf Van Dyck in the 60th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 63th minute after Pezerik's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. A well-hit corner resulted in Juan Sebastián Puig heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Just Fontaine in the 68th minute of play. Shota Stopa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felix Montenegro in the 76th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gustaaf Van Dyck in the 80th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Cristian Sancho struck a weak shot in the 84th minute. Shota Stopa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. In the 86th minute, Wart Goegebeur hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Pezerik booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Antonio Arias didn't get a good kick on the ball. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Just Fontaine in the 93rd minute of the match. 94 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Octavian Rutgeerts came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Despite being the better team, Ecuador failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
