Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Chile's Mariano Lacasa started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 14 minutes into the match, Mariano Lacasa had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Régis de Queirós. Palmeiras's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mariano Lacasa was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Mariano Lacasa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Régis de Queirós read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 31st minute of play. Mariano Lacasa might have been able to make a better finish in the 32nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Régis de Queirós. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mariano Lacasa ran back to his position shaking his head. Régis de Queirós showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mariano Lacasa, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. The crowd rose to their feet as José Carlos Simões kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Thiago Pliego. That made the score 1-1 in the 36 minute of play. In the 43rd minute Mariano Lacasa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Régis de Queirós saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Orlando Casaus in the 45th minute of play forced Palmeiras's goalkeeper Régis de Queirós to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 46th minute Mariano Lacasa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Régis de Queirós saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Bernt Jønsson to make the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mariano Lacasa got free with Régis de Queirós in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 54 minutes into the match, Mariano Lacasa notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Palmeiras's Régis de Queirós. Régis de Queirós was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Mariano Lacasa scored 1-3 in the 59th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Régis de Queirós, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Luke Clist had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Iustin Bungeanu in the 67th minute of play forced Chile's goalkeeper Thiago Pliego to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 71 minutes into the match, Chile's Mariano Lacasa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Régis de Queirós narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Palmeiras's Régis de Queirós played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mariano Lacasa in the 73rd minute of play. After having played for 74 minutes, Mariano Lacasa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Chile's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mariano Lacasa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Mariano Lacasa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Palmeiras's Régis de Queirós proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 81st minute of the match, managed to save Palmeiras from getting a goal against them. If Mariano Lacasa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Luke Clist fell near the penalty area in the 88th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Palmeiras's protests and gave Luke Clist a yellow card for diving instead. Chile made a substitution. Domingo Mancebo replaced Francisco Carballar. In the 90th match minute, Palmeiras was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luke Clist to maneuver through the defense.
