Spectators: 44 (Terracing: 34, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Martin Filc could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 5th minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. In the 5th minute, Martin Filc reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Julio Vera. The goal made the score 1-0. Felix Montenegro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Martin Filc tried to sneak it across the goal line. Stanislav Sič made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Agustín Saelices in the 16th minute of play. In the 46th minute, Dávid Mrázko hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After the first half Ecuador were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Stanislav Sič made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 81st minute. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. After taking down the ball on Ecuador's corner Daniel Zorita fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Stanislav Sič quite easily take care of the ball. Julio Vera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-3. After having played for 96 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ecuador were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
