In the 30th minute Alberto Tafalla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Qi Guo Yue saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Torreoncito getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lautaro Mancebo in the 46th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Qi Guo Yue saved Torreoncito from getting behind. After the first half Mexico were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Joel Gaona stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Mexico's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Wang Ying Yong kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. Lautaro Mancebo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Qi Guo Yue tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
