Ken Brogren struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Thiago Pliego didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Bruges. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Mariano Lacasa was the one to do the kick off. Mariano Lacasa took the ball and in the 57 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Luc Van Hinnendael. Luc Van Hinnendael dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. Mariano Lacasa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 61st minute of the match, but Luc Van Hinnendael made a huge save. In the 63rd minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Bruges's goalkeeper Luc Van Hinnendael, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 66 minutes into the match, Chile's Mariano Lacasa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Luc Van Hinnendael narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 67th minute Mac Mon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thiago Pliego saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mariano Lacasa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Bernardo Urtzi hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. Chile's Orlando Casaus got a good chance for a goal in the 71st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Thiago Pliego showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Shane Corrigan, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. In the 76th minute FC Bruges were awarded a corner. Lasse Kroner went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led FC Bruges's Lasse Kroner to fire away a dangerous shot which Thiago Pliego despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. 79 minutes into the match, Mariano Lacasa had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Luc Van Hinnendael. FC Bruges's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mariano Lacasa was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. 84 minutes into the match, Xavies Muñagorri notched a goal, 2-3, to the right of Chile's Thiago Pliego. Thiago Pliego was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The FC Bruges fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Chile were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
