Fernando Abarca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 13th minute, Daniel Zorita ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Fernando Abarca was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. In the 18th minute, Daniel Zorita made a precise shot to the right of Fernando Abarca. Cougars FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. 21 minutes into the match, Cougars FC's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Fernando Abarca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 26 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Fernando Abarca. Cougars FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Daniel Zorita was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. In the 29th minute, Daniel Zorita left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-4. Lorenzo Aimar who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 35thth minute tested the skills of Julio Vera when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fernando Abarca having to interfere. In the 40th minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Teodosio Sendoa fell near the penalty area in the 41st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cougars FC's protests and gave Teodosio Sendoa a yellow card for diving instead. Fernando Abarca showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Lorenzo Aimar made a kick off. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fabio Artal in the 53rd minute of the match. Fernando Abarca was a little too slow when Daniel Zorita got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 56th minute. The score was now 0-5. Cristian Sancho scored 0-6 in the 61st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Fernando Abarca, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Agustín Saelices received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Fernando Abarca came out and tried to block the shot, but Agustín Saelices slotted it home off the left post making it 0-7 in the 64th minute. Teodosio Sendoa hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. Cristian Sancho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 78th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Daniel Zorita came free with the goalkeeper in the 82nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Fernando Abarca could save by the left post. A nice corner shot did that Daniel Zorita got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Fernando Abarca quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lorenzo Aimar in the 85th minute of play. Teodosio Sendoa kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. The Cougars FC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
