Germán Figueres made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 4th minute of play. Germán Figueres took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Germán Figueres tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 19 minutes into the match, S.D NARCEA's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Germán Figueres reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. S.D NARCEA's Germán Figueres played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 21st minute of play. 26 minutes into the match, S.D NARCEA's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Germán Figueres reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of S.D NARCEA booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Agustín Saelices didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 30th minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. S.D NARCEA's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. Frisco Pascua kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. Cristian Sancho struck a weak shot in the 35th minute. Germán Figueres didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Germán Figueres tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 40 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Agustín Saelices. After 44 minutes of play, S.D NARCEA's Manel Quintanilla made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Félix Zărnescu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Germán Figueres took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 56th minute Paquito Rey shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, S.D NARCEA's Germán Figueres got control of the ball when Cristian Sancho tried to sneak it across the goal line. Daniel Zorita took the ball and in the 62 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Germán Figueres. Germán Figueres dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Germán Figueres showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 70th minute of the match. Germán Figueres was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Luis Andino showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-2 in the 76 minute of play. After some careless play in the S.D NARCEA defense, Cristian Sancho kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Germán Figueres. The S.D NARCEA fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Germán Figueres should have stopped the shot. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match was over Ecuador could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than S.D NARCEA throughout the match.
