When Golden Lions FC's Loco Durazno in the 10th minute got a chance for a shot 10th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye USA's goalie prevented a goal. If Loco Durazno had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mats Nyström got free with Marco Day in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Marco Day was a little too slow when Mats Nyström got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 16th minute. The score was now 2-0. Anders Lundqvist took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Monty Rogers, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Golden Lions FC's Georg Termander managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Jenson Smith in the 23 minute of the game. Thanks to some nice moves Mats Nyström could shoot a difficult shot in the 24th minute, which Marco Day however easily saved by the left post. In the 25th minute Golden Lions FC were awarded a corner. Arne Tönnberg went to the cornerflag to take it. Anders Lundqvist showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Monty Rogers, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Monty Rogers in the 32nd minute of play forced Golden Lions FC's goalkeeper Anders Lundqvist to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marco Day stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Loco Durazno's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. The Golden Lions FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Anders Lundqvist should have stopped the shot. A collision led to Golden Lions FC getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Björn Björkqvist hit a great ball. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cassius Byrne to make the kick off. In the 51st minute, Loco Durazno got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Anders Lundqvist showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cassius Byrne, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. With a little luck, Golden Lions FC's Anders Lundqvist got control of the ball when Cassius Byrne tried to sneak it across the goal line. Marco Day stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Loco Durazno's shot from short distance in the 57th minute. Golden Lions FC were awarded a corner in the 58th minute after USA's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Arne Tönnberg took the corner. 61 minutes into the match, Loco Durazno had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Marco Day. USA's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Loco Durazno was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. Loco Durazno's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Marco Day read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 63rd minute of play. After a rather tough play, Golden Lions FC's Björn Björkqvist got a free kick in the 65th minute. Golden Lions FC made a substitution. Marcelo Steven replaced İbrahim Efe Topdemir. USA made a substitution. Sam Campbell replaced Cassius Byrne. Björn Björkqvist hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. Monty Rogers's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Anders Lundqvist read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 67th minute of play. Marco Day was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. USA made a substitution. Khalid Parry replaced Monty Rogers. Marco Baker fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anders Lundqvist having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Khalid Parry managed to get in a good position for a shot. USA's supporters rose to their feet, but Khalid Parry was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Anders Lundqvist breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The Golden Lions FC players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
