In the 18th minute the ball was on its way in behind Canarinho Atordoado's goalkeeper Dé Mello, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Dé Mello showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lautaro Mancebo, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. Dé Mello made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Gaona in the 23rd minute of play. Dé Mello didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Joel Gaona went, in the 23rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Alberto Tafalla struck a weak shot in the 26th minute. Dé Mello didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mexico. 30 minutes into the game, Peter Mpenza cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Dante Lacasa was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Lautaro Mancebo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Dé Mello tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 37 minutes into the game, Alberto Tafalla cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Dé Mello was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The corner led Canarinho Atordoado's Peter Mpenza to fire away a dangerous shot which Dante Lacasa despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Dé Mello showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. The Canarinho Atordoado players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Mexico were winning 1-2.

Luiz Leo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 57th minute Alberto Tafalla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dé Mello saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dé Mello made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Gaona in the 60th minute of play. In the 68th minute, Fabián Nesta hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 72 minutes, Peter Mpenza managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Canarinho Atordoado's supporters crossed their fingers, but Peter Mpenza was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 79th minute of the match, Alberto Tafalla tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Dé Mello saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After 80 minutes Canarinho Atordoado's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Joel Gaona who took care of the corner kick. 85 minutes into the match, Canarinho Atordoado's goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Tafalla came free, but Dé Mello reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 88 minutes into the game, Márcio Seabra cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Dante Lacasa was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Márcio Seabra in the 93rd minute of the match. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
