After some fancy dribbling in the 2nd minute, Vlad Ivan managed to get in a good position for a shot. With his leg Benito Sanz managed to avoid a goal in the 16thth minute, when FokuMe's Eduard Drăgoescu fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Eduard Drăgoescu did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 2-0 to the left of a surprised Benito Sanz 16 minutes into the match. If Pavel Ploieșteanu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Efrain Moruga fell near the penalty area in the 23rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Costa Rica's protests and gave Efrain Moruga a yellow card for diving instead. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pavel Ploieșteanu in the 25th minute of the match. Axel Tasis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emil Nae having to interfere. Abel Carballo hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. When Eliseo Noboa came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the Costa Rica fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eliseo Noboa couldn't finish the play. After some careless play in the Costa Rica defense, Eduard Drăgoescu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. The Costa Rica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Sanz should have stopped the shot. Benito Sanz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Vlad Ivan in the 39th minute. The supporters of FokuMe booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lautaro Puig didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 47th minute of the match, Eduard Drăgoescu got a very nice opportunity to score, but Benito Sanz was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The audience was convinced that Axel Tasis's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Emil Nae was relentless in the 66th minute of the game.
