Spectators: 50 (Terracing: 38, Seating: 11, VIP seats: 1) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Xu Yun Quan got the match started through his kick off. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Xu Yun Quan tried to sneak it across the goal line. Felix Montenegro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Farid Mondragón having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kerry Sellers in the 7th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Farid Mondragón tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 12th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. C. A. Independiente's Farid Mondragón played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 16th minute of play. C. A. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Xu Yun Quan's shot from short distance in the 20th minute. 23 minutes into the match, C. A. Independiente's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Farid Mondragón reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Xu Yun Quan got free with Julio Vera in the 27th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 29 minutes into the game, C. A. Independiente's Xu Yun Quan nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Julio Vera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Farid Mondragón took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Farid Mondragón tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 44 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Felix Montes. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to C. A. Independiente getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Qiu Fan Ran hit a great ball. 60 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Claudio Marangoni came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sidney Forbes in the 64th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 65th minute Xu Yun Quan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After taking down the ball on C. A. Independiente's corner Eric Snowden fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Julio Vera quite easily take care of the ball. A collision led to C. A. Independiente getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Claudio Marangoni hit a great ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Ecuador's Daniel Zorita slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Farid Mondragón. That made the score 1-1 after 71 minutes of play. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kerry Sellers in the 73rd minute of the match. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sidney Forbes, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. It was a well-played corner which Luis Andino managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. When C. A. Independiente's Xu Yun Quan in the 84th minute got a chance for a shot 84th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ecuador's goalie prevented a goal. 86 minutes into the game, Qiu Fan Ran was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. C. A. Independiente's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. In the 86th minute, Qiu Fan Ran hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claudio Marangoni in the 89th minute of play. In the 90th match minute, C. A. Independiente was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Qiu Fan Ran to maneuver through the defense. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kerry Sellers in the 95th minute of play. C. A. Independiente succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Ecuador had controlled the match.
