If Horácio Santos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Armandinho Amaral got a throw-in 33 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Carlinhos Lopez. Lautaro Navarro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Horácio Santos in the 35th minute of the match. Honduras's Valentín Carvallo managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Armandinho Amaral in the 37 minute of the game. Esteban Carvallo hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

Honduras's Lautaro Navarro proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 63rd minute of the match, managed to save Honduras from getting a goal against them. Luca Espinar's late challenge caught a Maleta's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. In the 67th match minute, Maleta was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Reinaldo Toledo to maneuver through the defense.
