Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cristian Sancho in the 20th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jan de Boer prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A beautiful save bye Ecuador's goalie prevented a goal. Wilco Heida made a great header on Sons of Strategy's corner, it was just that Ecuador's Julio Vera managed to reach the ball for a save. After having played for 47 minutes, Arjen de Boer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sons of Strategy's supporters crossed their fingers, but Arjen de Boer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. Julio Vera came out of the goal in the 54th minute to try and stop a shot by Sons of Strategy's Arjen de Boer. But to his dismay, Arjen de Boer quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. Marinus Abbenbroek kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. Sons of Strategy's Jan de Boer proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 58th minute of the match, managed to save Sons of Strategy from getting a goal against them. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arjen de Boer in the 60th minute of play. After having played for 60 minutes, Arnold Pool managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sons of Strategy's supporters crossed their fingers, but Arnold Pool was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sons of Strategy's Jan de Boer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 62nd minute of play. 65 minutes into the game, Sons of Strategy's Arjen de Boer nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Julio Vera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. Daniel Zoritas short, quick shot in the 70thth minute got Jan de Boer to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Sons of Strategy's Jan de Boer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 73rd minute of play. In the 73rd minute, Arnold Pool hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Sons of Strategy's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jan de Boer came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Agustín Saelices got free with Jan de Boer in the 78th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arjen de Boer in the 83rd minute of play. In the 84th minute of the match, Cristian Sancho tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Jan de Boer saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Jan de Boer was a little too slow when Felix Montenegro got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 85th minute. The score was now 4-1. In the 90th minute, Wilco Heida left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Sons of Strategy fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-1. After 95 minutes, Meindert Hilberts mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sons of Strategy and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. Meindert Hilberts kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. In the 95th minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the referee blew the final whistle, Sons of Strategy could leave the field as winners, despite Ecuador having more of the ball for most of the match.
