Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Capdevilla's Omar Maju started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 2nd minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pastor Valery saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 4 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Primitivo Andino. The audience was convinced that Omar Maju's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 9th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Felix Montenegro in the 17th minute of play forced Capdevilla's goalkeeper Pastor Valery to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Omar Maju in the 23rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Pastor Valery made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 24th minute of play. Pastor Valery showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 25th minute of the match. In the 30th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pastor Valery saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Felix Montenegro in the 32nd minute of play forced Capdevilla's goalkeeper Pastor Valery to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Miguel Diagur tried to sneak it across the goal line. 44 minutes into the match, Cristian Sancho notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Capdevilla's Pastor Valery. Pastor Valery was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
In the 56th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Daniel Zorita to maneuver through the defense. 58 minutes into the match, Agustín Saelices had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Pastor Valery. Capdevilla's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Agustín Saelices was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Miguel Diagur, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Daniel Zorita's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Pastor Valery firmly grabbed it by the left post. After 64 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Camilo Gisbert. Pastor Valery showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luis Andino in the 66th minute of the match. In the 67th minute Omar Maju shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 69th minute of the match, Luis Andino tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Pastor Valery saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Antonio Arias hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. Capdevilla's Adolfo Dolfo couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Ecuador. The audience thought a goal was coming when Felix Montenegro got free with Pastor Valery in the 75th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Omar Maju in the 76th minute of the match. After 79 minutes, Hernan Erauso mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Capdevilla and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. Ecuador made a substitution. Luz Palacio replaced Daniel Zorita. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 78th minute of the game. One of Capdevilla:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Ecuador:s goal. In the 82nd minute, Felix Montenegro made a precise shot to the right of Pastor Valery. Capdevilla's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-4. After some careless play in the Ecuador defense, Miguel Diagur kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Julio Vera. The Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julio Vera should have stopped the shot. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Luz Palacio got a free kick in the 89th minute. Pastor Valery didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Luz Palacio went, in the 94th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-5 was the resulting score.
