Tomas Illescas might have been able to make a better finish in the 11th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tomé Oliveira. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Caco Guimarães in the 17th minute of the match. 17 minutes into the match, Caco Guimarães had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Caco Guimarães was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Caco Guimarães, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. 23 minutes into the match, Caco Guimarães dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Jonathan Ferrant, 2-0. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 27th minute of the match, managed to save Venezuela from getting a goal against them. Venezuela's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Magno Nunes 27 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 3-0. The nice shot from Magno Nunes in the 35thth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Jonathan Ferrant had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. After having played for 39 minutes, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Venezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomas Illescas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Magno Nuness short, quick shot in the 41stth minute got Jonathan Ferrant to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 47th minute, Magno Nunes ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jonathan Ferrant was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 4-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Magno Nunes was the one to do the kick off. Jose Correa kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Caco Guimarães in the 58th minute of play. Magno Nunes might have been able to make a better finish in the 61st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jonathan Ferrant. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Magno Nunes ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 64th minute Caco Guimarães shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jonathan Venegas kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. 66 minutes into the match, Rua Ferreira Viana F.C.'s Sandro Alvarenga broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. The Venezuela fans' excitement grew in the 68th match minute when Venezuela's Tomas Illescas looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 4-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Tomas Illescas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Venezuela were furious when Guillermo Mariano was red carded, 77 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Guillermo Mariano got a free kick in the 77th minute. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sandro Alvarenga, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 81st minute, Patricio Costa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 83rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Rua Ferreira Viana F.C.'s goalkeeper Tomé Oliveira, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Joshua Secada had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Patricio Costa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tomé Oliveira having to interfere.
