Alvaro Valente took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luz Tejedor, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Scofield getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Feliciano Baumar hit a great ball. The supporters of Peru booed when Scofield was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Feliciano Baumar didn't get a good kick on the ball. 72 minutes into the match, Peru's Julian Murillo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Alvaro Valente narrowly saved just below the crossbar. That made the score 2-3 in the 94 minute of play. Peru played a much better game than Scofield and deserved their victory. The Scofield players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
