In the 12th minute of the match Peru got a corner. Scofield's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Luz Tejedor ran over to the corner to take the kick. Scofield's Alvaro Valente played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luz Tejedor in the 14th minute of play. 16 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Feliciano Baumar came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Scofield's zone, Julian Murillo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alvaro Valente came out of the goal and Julian Murillo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 23rd minute, Milagros Fraga had to leave the field with a concussion. When Generoso Figueroa fell near the penalty area in the 23rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Scofield's protests and gave Generoso Figueroa a yellow card for diving instead. Peru's Eliseo Alcocer was substituted for Milagros Fraga. A collision led to Scofield getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Generoso Figueroa hit a great ball. Peru's attentive Alonso Berganza managed to snatch the ball when Aaron Bemabe made a throw-in in the 27th minute of the game. Eliseo Alcocer could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 28th minute of the match, but Alvaro Valente made a huge save. In the 29th minute Peru were awarded a corner. Luz Tejedor went to the cornerflag to take it. Rolando Noboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Feliciano Baumar in the 34th minute of play. Aaron Bemabe kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. 39 minutes into the match, Peru's Julian Murillo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Alvaro Valente narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 42 minutes into the match, Scofield's goalkeeper Alvaro Valente had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Eliseo Alcocer. When Julian Murillo came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the Peru fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Julian Murillo couldn't finish the play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

He walked away shaking his head. In the 90th minute the ball was on its way in behind Scofield's goalkeeper Alvaro Valente, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Peru fully deserved thier win.
