One of Honduras:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of CA Boca Jrs:s goal. Fabrizio Costacurta hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. In the 19th minute, Corrado Cicchetti hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Edmundo Espiga received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Ercole Ceresoli came out and tried to block the shot, but Edmundo Espiga slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 22nd minute. The supporters of Honduras booed when CA Boca Jrs was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alfonso Pedrelli didn't get a good kick on the ball. Carmine Orlandi made in the 41st minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Fabrizio Costacurta. Lautaro Navarro stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Daniele Ubriaco's shot from short distance in the 43rd minute.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dennis Tozzi was the one to do the kick off. Dennis Tozzi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Carmine Orlandi got a throw-in 54 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Fabio Mirto. 56 minutes into the match, CA Boca Jrs's goal looked a bit too open when Edmundo Espiga came free, but Ercole Ceresoli reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 61st minute, Daniele Ubriaco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ercole Ceresoli didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Honduras's Edmundo Espiga shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 2-1 in the ordered_time% minute. 66 minutes into the match, Edmundo Espiga notched a goal, 3-1, to the right of CA Boca Jrs's Ercole Ceresoli. Ercole Ceresoli was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Domenico Costacurta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lautaro Navarro having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sebastian Villa in the 74th minute of play forced CA Boca Jrs's goalkeeper Ercole Ceresoli to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ercole Ceresoli didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Honduras's Edmundo Espiga shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 4-1 in the ordered_time% minute. CA Boca Jrs's Ercole Ceresoli played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Moises Tafalla in the 80th minute of play. 88 minutes into the match, Edmundo Espiga had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ercole Ceresoli. CA Boca Jrs's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Edmundo Espiga was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-1. After a defensive mix-up in CA Boca Jrs's zone, Edmundo Espiga stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ercole Ceresoli came out of the goal and Edmundo Espiga tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Honduras had played much better football throughout.
