Ricardo Zorita made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Walmyr Matorin in the 11th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Moises Fernandino got free with Fausto Sá in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some careless play in the El Salvador defense, Horácio Santos kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ricardo Zorita. The El Salvador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ricardo Zorita should have stopped the shot. 21 minutes into the match, Maleta's goalkeeper Fausto Sá had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Moises Fernandino. With a little luck, Maleta's Fausto Sá got control of the ball when Moises Fernandino tried to sneak it across the goal line. El Salvador's Ricardo Zorita played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Horácio Santos in the 37th minute of play. When Valentino Ferrant fell near the penalty area in the 39th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored El Salvador's protests and gave Valentino Ferrant a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to El Salvador getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Valentino Ferrant hit a great ball. After 40 played minutes, Maleta's Sandro Lucas shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Ricardo Zorita came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Maleta reached it. 41 minutes into the game, Marco Tamayo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. El Salvador's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Maleta the free kick. Horácio Santos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ricardo Zorita having to interfere. In the 46th minute, Carlinhos Lopez left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Maleta fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. After the first half Maleta were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

0-3 became the score in the 53rd minute when Horácio Santos elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. A hard shot 57 in the game by Horácio Santos from a close distance when the talented Ricardo Zorita managed to make a qualified save. El Salvador's players were relieved. After a rather tough play, El Salvador's Marco Tamayo got a free kick in the 59th minute. After a defensive mix-up in El Salvador's zone, Walmyr Matorin stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ricardo Zorita came out of the goal and Walmyr Matorin tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ricardo Zorita made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlinhos Lopez in the 62nd minute of play. El Salvador's Abram Luque got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a little luck, El Salvador's Ricardo Zorita got control of the ball when Horácio Santos tried to sneak it across the goal line. Fausto Sá showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Moises Fernandino in the 67th minute of the match. Horácio Santos could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 83rd minute of the match, but Ricardo Zorita made a huge save. Ricardo Zorita made an important save on a dangerous shot by Horácio Santos in the 86th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Horácio Santos got free with Ricardo Zorita in the 88th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Sandro Lucas charged in rather forcefully in the 94th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Sandro Lucas the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Sandro Lucas kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. Fausto Sá came out of the goal in the 96th minute to try and stop a shot by El Salvador's Moises Fernandino. But to his dismay, Moises Fernandino quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-4. Maleta's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
