An unexpectedly hard shot by Gică Boerescu in the 12th minute of play forced Honduras's goalkeeper Lautaro Navarro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cornel Bodiu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Iacob Nistor showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edmundo Espiga in the 17th minute of the match. 18 minutes into the game, Manuel Arruda was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Alex Team's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Honduras the free kick. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 22 minutes into the match, Alex Team's goal looked a bit too open when Edmundo Espiga came free, but Iacob Nistor reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 30 minutes into the game, Valentín Carvallo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Honduras's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Alex Team the free kick. After a rather tough play, Honduras's Valentín Carvallo got a free kick in the 30th minute. Gică Boerescu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lautaro Navarro read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 33rd minute of play. After having played for 87 minutes, Edmundo Espiga managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Honduras's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edmundo Espiga was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Iacob Nistor showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edmundo Espiga, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. The Alex Team fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Honduras were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
