In the 13th match minute, FK Partizan Beograd was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Grigorije Pejaković to maneuver through the defense. After 23 played minutes Paraguay got a freekick which was hit by Jaime Pardo. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Višeslav Putinčanin to strike the kick off in the second half. After having played for 52 minutes, Mitar Momić managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FK Partizan Beograd's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mitar Momić was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 55 minutes, Xavier Zoido mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Paraguay and the FK Partizan Beograd players grew even worse after the yellow card. Xavier Zoido kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. Boris Čović took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jaime Pardo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 69th minute, Višeslav Putinčanin made a precise shot to the right of Jacobo Nores. Paraguay's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. After a rather tough play, FK Partizan Beograd's Darko Šćepanović got a free kick in the 84th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hector Covarrubias in the 86th minute of play forced FK Partizan Beograd's goalkeeper Boris Čović to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 95 minutes into the game, Mitar Momić cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Jacobo Nores was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in.
