An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 8th minute of play forced Elderslie Magpies's goalkeeper Christian Kerville to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Elderslie Magpies's Christian Kerville played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luis Andino in the 9th minute of play. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 13th minute of the match, Steven Chaptal got a very nice opportunity to score, but Julio Vera was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. After some careless play in the Elderslie Magpies defense, Felix Montenegro kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Christian Kerville. The Elderslie Magpies fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Christian Kerville should have stopped the shot. Christian Kerville made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 35th minute of play. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. Christian Kerville showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 43rd minute of the match. 46 minutes into the match, Elderslie Magpies's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Christian Kerville reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Neal Weatherby made a kick off. After 54 minutes, Agustín Saelices mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ecuador and the Elderslie Magpies players grew even worse after the yellow card. Ecuador's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
