Christian Heckrath showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 4th minute of the match. After 9 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Cristian Sancho. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 15th minute of play forced Freestylers's goalkeeper Christian Heckrath to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 18th minute Carsten-Alexander Wiesmann shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Daniel Zorita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 23 played minutes Freestylers got a freekick which was hit by Helmut Stecher. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Christian Heckrath having to interfere. Christian Heckrath didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Daniel Zorita went, in the 28th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. In the 31st minute, Cristian Sancho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Christian Heckrath was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. After a rather tough play, Freestylers's Fabian Divis got a free kick in the 36th minute. In the 38th minute, Daniel Zorita left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-4. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Felix Montenegro in the 42nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Christian Heckrath saved Freestylers from getting behind. 43 minutes into the match, Cristian Sancho had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Christian Heckrath. Freestylers's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cristian Sancho was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-5. Disappointed in the 0-5 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Carsten-Alexander Wiesmann to make the kick off. Arne Korioth's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
