Independiente del Río's Yin Cheng Han played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 12th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Emanuel Sueiro kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Julio Vera. That made the score 2-2 in the 23 minute of play. In the 32nd match minute, Independiente del Río was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ejder Sümer to maneuver through the defense. 44 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Yin Cheng Han made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-3. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 2-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emanuel Sueiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Independiente del Río's Yin Cheng Han got control of the ball when Cristian Sancho tried to sneak it across the goal line. 73 minutes into the game, Independiente del Río's Machado Santianes nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Emanuel Sueiro in the 91st minute of the match. Ecuador were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Independiente del Río to leave the ground with a draw.
