The audience thought a goal was coming when Ignacy Opalinski got free with Jacobo Nores in the 11th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Paraguay booed when New England Minas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nathan Whitaker didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some careless play in the New England Minas defense, Jaime Pardo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Brett Ladd. The New England Minas fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Brett Ladd should have stopped the shot. In the 22nd minute of the match, Ignacy Opalinski tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Jacobo Nores saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Nikitas Papaiakovou was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 28th minute. New England Minas's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. 30 minutes into the match, Hector Covarrubias had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Brett Ladd. New England Minas's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Hector Covarrubias was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. In the 32nd minute, Ruben Ellison hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Paraguay's zone, Ignacy Opalinski stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jacobo Nores came out of the goal and Ignacy Opalinski tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a little luck, Paraguay's Jacobo Nores got control of the ball when Ignacy Opalinski tried to sneak it across the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Ignacy Opalinski kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Jacobo Nores. That made the score 2-2 in the 47 minute of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

In the 53rd match minute, Paraguay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jaime Pardo to maneuver through the defense. Primitivo Escribano struck a weak shot in the 56th minute. Brett Ladd didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Paraguay. The Paraguay fans' excitement grew in the 65th match minute when Paraguay's Jaime Pardo looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. A collision led to Paraguay getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Alan Campos hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Paraguay's Hector Covarrubias got a free kick in the 78th minute. Jacobo Nores showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ignacy Opalinski, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. Paraguay's Hector Covarrubias got a good chance for a goal in the 84th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Primitivo Escribano came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Paraguay fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Primitivo Escribano couldn't finish the play. Jaime Pardo kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match. In the 91st minute Nikitas Papaiakovou shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacobo Nores saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nikitas Papaiakovou received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Jacobo Nores tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 96 minutes into the match, Paraguay's goal looked a bit too open when Ignacy Opalinski came free, but Jacobo Nores reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jaime Pardos short, quick shot in the 98thth minute got Brett Ladd to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in.
