Cirilo Ritchie sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cirilo Ritchie might have been able to make a better finish in the 12th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Pedro Manzanares. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cirilo Ritchie ran back to his position shaking his head. The corner led Arrecifes's Modesto Gipuzkoa to fire away a dangerous shot which Pedro Manzanares despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

After some careless play in the Arrecifes defense, Axel Montenegro kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Arif Ozan Oğuztan. The Arrecifes fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Arif Ozan Oğuztan should have stopped the shot. In the 53rd minute, Carlos Eufrasio got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 85th minute, Felipe Senon ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Pedro Manzanares was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-4. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Felipe Senon in the 89th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Pedro Manzanares saved Colombia from getting behind. After 94 played minutes, Colombia's Luis Cazalla shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Arif Ozan Oğuztan came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Colombia reached it. The Arrecifes supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Arrecifes would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
