Julio Vera dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. 72 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Luiz Fabiano Lima came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 75th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felix Montes to maneuver through the defense. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 78th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Yiğitcan İstanbullu having to interfere. After 89 minutes, Luiz Fabiano Lima made it 2-1 with a short kick to the right side. Ecuador's Julio Vera tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot.
