Oiteiras's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. After 43 played minutes Oiteiras got a freekick which was hit by Humberto Quinito. 44 minutes into the match, Oiteiras's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but 彭钢昂 reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Silas Magalhães's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Silas Magalhães helped the player get up and apologised. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

In the 67th minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 彭钢昂 took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd rose to their feet as Ecuador's Felix Montenegro slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of 彭钢昂. That made the score 1-1 after 86 minutes of play. 彭钢昂 made a fantastic save in the 94th minute, when Agustín Saelices sent off a good shot on target. In the 94th minute, Agustín Saelices reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of 彭钢昂. The goal made the score 1-2. The Oiteiras fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
