CA Boca Jrs's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. In the 2nd minute, Edmondo Frezza hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Enrico Palomba's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 4th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cristian Sancho in the 5th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Adriano Alfieri saved CA Boca Jrs from getting behind. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Anoush Rott in the 10th minute of the match. Adriano Alfieri made a fantastic save in the 13th minute, when Cristian Sancho sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of CA Boca Jrs booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cristian Sancho didn't get a good kick on the ball. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nunez Feliz, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. 16 minutes into the match, CA Boca Jrs's goalkeeper Adriano Alfieri had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristian Sancho. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Adriano Alfieri made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Sancho in the 20th minute. 20 minutes into the match, Cristian Sancho dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Adriano Alfieri, 2-0. In the 23rd minute of the match, Daniel Zorita got a very nice opportunity to score, but Adriano Alfieri was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Adriano Alfieri tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. CA Boca Jrs's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Enzo Cinalli in the 31st minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Felix Montenegro got free with Adriano Alfieri in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 38 minutes into the game, Felix Montenegro recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Adriano Alfieri. Felix Montenegro showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-0. CA Boca Jrs's Adriano Alfieri proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 44th minute of the match, managed to save CA Boca Jrs from getting a goal against them. After taking down the ball on CA Boca Jrs's corner Enzo Cinalli fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Julio Vera quite easily take care of the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Adriano Alfieri took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 55 minutes of play, CA Boca Jrs's Enzo Cinalli made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! 58 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Nunez Feliz came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nunez Feliz in the 59th minute of play. Adriano Alfieri took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 64th minute the ball was on its way in behind CA Boca Jrs's goalkeeper Adriano Alfieri, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Daniel Zorita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 69th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 72nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Enzo Cinalli in the 76th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 78 minutes into the match, CA Boca Jrs's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Adriano Alfieri reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 79th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. Daniel Zorita made a great header on Ecuador's corner, it was just that CA Boca Jrs's Adriano Alfieri managed to reach the ball for a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nunez Feliz in the 81st minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Anoush Rott came free with the goalkeeper in the 84th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Julio Vera could save by the left post. CA Boca Jrs's Adriano Alfieri played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 86th minute of play. CA Boca Jrs's Emiliano Di Luzio was substituted for Nunez Feliz. CA Boca Jrs's Biagio Melchiorre was substituted for Cristiano Di Rocco. 88 minutes had been played when some careless play by CA Boca Jrs's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Davide Flumian tried to sneak it across the goal line.
