Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Raúl Gasso in the 10th minute of play. 19 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Raúl Gasso came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Raúl Gasso received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Benito Sanz came out and tried to block the shot, but Raúl Gasso slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 22nd minute. In the 25th match minute, Real Armal F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cordairo Garay to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Costa Rica booed when Real Armal F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Osmundo Dulce didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 30th minute, Real Armal F.C.'s Adán Palacios seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Adán Palacios the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Real Armal F.C. protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Adán Palacios had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 30th minute of the game. One of Real Armal F.C.:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Costa Rica:s goal. The corner led to Costa Rica's Juan Rubio getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. After 35 minutes, Lautaro Puig mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Costa Rica and the Real Armal F.C. players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Lautaro Puig hit a great ball. In the 37th match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alexander Carballo to maneuver through the defense. 39 minutes in the game Máximo Maestro got a great opportunity which he missed by shooting outside the goal. When Eliseo Noboa came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the Costa Rica fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eliseo Noboa couldn't finish the play.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Raúl Gasso made a kick off. Costa Rica's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lautaro Puig was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sagrario Cruz didn't get a good kick on the ball. 84 minutes into the match, Real Armal F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Axel Tasis came free, but Dionisio Figueres reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lautaro Puig took the ball and in the 87 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dionisio Figueres. Dionisio Figueres dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Costa Rica eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
