Albert Gernberg hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Per Eliasson in the 11th minute of play. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Per Eliasson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 27thth minute of the game Per Eliasson who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Costa Rica's Benito Sanz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The supporters of Costa Rica booed when Sundens BK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aquiles Eguen didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Netto in the 30th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 33 minutes, Albert Gernberg managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sundens BK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Albert Gernberg was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a little luck, Sundens BK's Axel Martinsson got control of the ball when Lautaro Puig tried to sneak it across the goal line. After the first half Sundens BK were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Per Eliasson was the one to do the kick off. Costa Rica's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sundens BK the free kick. Through an outstanding action, after 82 minutes, Benito Sanz successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Albert Gernberg in the 84th minute of the match. In the 88thth minute of the game Per Eliasson who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Costa Rica's Benito Sanz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.
